Even though Spring doesn't start for a few more weeks, it has arrived early on the Gulf Coast this year!

We've had consistently fabulous weather for the past three weeks now, with daytime highs in the mid-seventies and mostly clear skies!

Typically, April and October are two of the best times of the year on the Gulf Coast beaches, with temperatures around 80 degrees, and the rental rates are lower than peak season, which generally runs from mid-May to mid-August.

And even though the days are getting longer, the clear, cool evenings make for some glorious sunsets that seem to go on forever . . . .

Things are back to normal on Dauphin Island, although even more quiet than usual. The great news is that we have no oil here, our beaches are clean, the water is gorgeous, and the folks that are down here enjoying their Dauphin Island beach vacation are enjoying beautiful weather. Come down and see for yourself!

My wife Nancy and I had the distinct pleasure of attending the Jimmy Buffet concert at the Gulf Shores, AL public beach. The concert was held on Sunday, July 11th and was broadcast live on CMT television.

It was a great crowd of about 35,000. The stage and sound system were great- and the sound was perfect. Thanks to Jimmy Buffet for coming home to play for us . . . . He grew up in and around Mobile, AL so it was quite a homecoming for him. A great time was had by all.

Mobile native Jimmy Buffet will be performing a free concert at the beach in Gulf Shores, AL on July 11th, along with the Zac Brown band, Kenny Chesney, Allen Toussaint, and others.  The show will be available on CMT.com via live streaming, and via satellite radio on Air Margaritaville.
